His book "The Value of Arts for Business" by Cambridge University Press is regarded as a seminal text on how the arts, in the form of Arts-based Initiatives (ABIs), can transform business models.
Giovanni has held visiting teaching and research appointments at: Cranfield School of Management (UK); Graduate School of Management St. Petersburg University (Russia); Cambridge Service Alliance - IfM University of Cambridge (UK); Kozminski International Business School, University of Kozminski (Poland); University of Bradford (UK); Tampere University of Technology (Finland); Liverpool Business School (UK). Giovanni has a Ph.D. in business management from the University of Rome Tor Vergata (Italy) and has authored or co-authored more than 200 publications, including books, articles, research reports and white papers on a range of research topics particularly embracing Strategic Knowledge Asset and Intellectual Capital Management, Strategic Performance Measurement and Management, Innovation Systems, Innovation management and Organisational Development. He serves as Chief-Editor of the journal "Knowledge Management Research and Practice" and as Co-Editor in Chief of the international journal "Measuring Business Excellence" and he has acted as guest Editor of the Journal of Knowledge Management, Journal of Business research, Journal of Intellectual Capital, International Journal of Knowledge-based Development, and Journal of Learning and Intellectual Capital. Giovanni has founded and chairs the International Forum on Knowledge Assets Dynamics (IFKAD).
He provides scientific support to private corporations and government organizations on research projects in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. He has taught executive seminars among others at the Judge Business School - University of Cambridge, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Dublin Institute of Technology, Liverpool Business School, Cass Business School, City University, Pace University, Al Akhwayn University, Aalborg University, Tampere University of Technology, at University of San Marino, Qatar Leadership Center and Gordon Institute of Business Science.
