Logistics knowledge management: state of the art and future perspectives
In today's dynamic competitive environment, logistics have become increasingly complex and knowledge-intensive. Thus, it is crucial to develop a knowledge strategy and implement a KM approach for achieving organizational goals. Although KM research has grown rapidly in recent years, several disciplines have studied KM from their own perspectives and there are only limited efforts to study the interfaces of KM from an interdisciplinary perspective (Evangelista and Durst, 2015). This is the case of the interface between KM and logistics. Despite, the increasing interest in studying KM in logistics (Fugate et al., 2012), there is still a gap in understanding the role and potential of KM in logistics processes.
We encourage scholars and practitioners to share findings and insights on how knowledge management occurs in logistics. Papers adopting different theoretical lenses, using different research methods, analysing different types of organizations and exploring the topic in different countries are strongly encouraged. Some of the topic areas we hope to discuss include but are not restricted to the following:
  • KM practices implementation in logistics
  • Benefits of KM applications in logistics processes
  • Barriers to KM adoption in logistics
  • Cross-country analysis of KM adoption in logistics
  • Logistics knowledge capabilities development
  • KM impact on logistics performance
  • KM and big data treatment in logistics
  • Research methods to study KM in logistics
